The story of a sneeze

Have you ever heard of a cultural adaptation that could possibly result in changing of the sneezing style of an individual? Well, when I first came to the US, I would sneeze like I did in India: AA-CHhhiii! Then I realized that people in the US, especially girls seem to be doing this quite cuter sneeze. How was it possible for human beings to sneeze any differently, I wondered. I began to notice and observe it more. I noticed two things: 1. People hold their nostrils when they sneeze and 2. The sound they make is aa-chu.

So, I do not do the first bit in holding my nostrils because from what my mommy told me, a sneeze is meant to let the dust to exit your system – to hold the stuff in just to meet a social norm is not quite my style – but replacing the “i” sound with a “u” sound was something I could try without any extra effort. As a result, here is how I sneeze: -AA-Choooooouuuu, where as I end my sneeze, I try to fade it out all cute =D

That’s my story of the culturally adapted cutesy sneeze. Hey, you pick and choose what you like in the world!

Good Old Stoneridge

Sitting by the poolside at stoneridge apartments, ruminating life. Mostly warm, with extremities cold. I wonder how many people can see me chilling here and I wonder if it matters at all. Soft slight buzzing of the cars on 39th st, and the pleasant breeze with the safety of the pool light, and the neighboring apartments with international students shuffling inside. I finished most of my hw for the night. Just taking in some nature, some quiet, and feeling what feels like peace. A lot has happened, can happen, would happen, and keeps happening, but there is nothing like feeling this almost perfect calm inside. Literally breathing in and breathing out. There's people coming around to talk..omg Indian accents.."watched 5-8 lectures.." Why must they come into my quiet with an accent that totally and ridiculously over exaggerates each freaking vowel. Ok dragging their flip flops by the poolside, apparently all Indians like doing this. Lol- I'm Indian after all.. I can understand their language - looks like there's a poolside party- birthday party? All men of course! It's funny how we used to be a group, a significantly better one. There is nothing like your best buds and best friends. Oh gosh looks like someone is going to get beat up- haha it's fine n fun when you're inside the group but it is ridiculous from the outside. Good scene. It's nice to be a slight watcherby of life rather than living it. It is safe and clean and calm. How I wish the Indian accent were better!! And that the girls also hung out more openly! Nothing like finding solace and peace in nature.
