The story of a sneeze

Have you ever heard of a cultural adaptation that could possibly result in changing of the sneezing style of an individual? Well, when I first came to the US, I would sneeze like I did in India: AA-CHhhiii! Then I realized that people in the US, especially girls seem to be doing this quite cuter sneeze. How was it possible for human beings to sneeze any differently, I wondered. I began to notice and observe it more. I noticed two things: 1. People hold their nostrils when they sneeze and 2. The sound they make is aa-chu.

So, I do not do the first bit in holding my nostrils because from what my mommy told me, a sneeze is meant to let the dust to exit your system – to hold the stuff in just to meet a social norm is not quite my style – but replacing the “i” sound with a “u” sound was something I could try without any extra effort. As a result, here is how I sneeze: -AA-Choooooouuuu, where as I end my sneeze, I try to fade it out all cute =D

That’s my story of the culturally adapted cutesy sneeze. Hey, you pick and choose what you like in the world!
